A MLA of the ruling Jharkhand Mukti Morcha (Jmm), Hemlal Murmu, advised women to beat their husbands on Tuesday (March 4, 2025) during the ongoing budget meeting of the State Assembly when they returned drunk. “Many women of my constituency for meetings (Littipara) call me and ask me what to do when her husband returned home (after) alcohol. I tell you, ‘do thok (Think them). Families are ruined due to alcohol, ”said Murmu.

In response to this, the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) Koderma Mla Nera Yadav asked why the state government sold alcohol in Jharkhand. Instead of stopping alcohol, Ms. Yadav said that the government advised that husbands are beaten, which is “not an appropriate answer”.

Mr. Murmu spoke in the general discussion about the state budget in the meeting. He said that women are becoming more successful due to the efforts of the state government. According to the example of his constituency, the JMM legislator stated that women produce 76,000 to 78,000 Jute bags per month, but marketing was missing.

“When marketing is improved, the products produced by self -help groups will become a better market and women financially wealthy,” said Murmu.

With the help of the government, women earned £ 20,000 to 50,000 per month, he continued.

The President of the BJP and the former Prime Minister Babular Marandi accused the state government of doing “politics” even in the budget speech.

The BJP leader said that the government’s revenue has so far only been 58.82% in the current financial year, and in this area too, the equity tax of the center was 28.35%.
