Interview with make-up artist Florence Teerlinck

Florence Teerlinck’s heterogeneous beauty journey, from Balenciaga to Marie Adam-Leenaerdt

A little favorite of Inge Grognard, an internationally known Belgian Make-up artist who took her under his wing from the beginning of her career, make-up artist Florence Teerlinck is characterized by her careful work with colors and her distinctive style that combines boldness and softness.

She recalls that from a young age she was influenced and fascinated by the way her mother wore makeup, which certainly played an important role in her then subconscious desire to make beauty part of her daily life.

Close to big houses like Balenciaga, with whom she produced an eyewear campaign in March 2024, and Dries Van Noten, with whom she developed a vegan lipstick in a satin shade under the direction of Inge Grognard, Florence Teerlinck does not shy away from younger things Brands.

In addition to their participation in Meryl Rogge and Marie Adam-Leenaerdt’s shows during Paris Fashion Week, the make-up artist also wants to encourage other beauty enthusiasts and pass on her know-how… In 2016, she founded an agency called The mobile make-up barwith which she helps professional make-up artists and supports them in their careers.

Number : How would you describe yourself?

Florence Teerlinck: I am optimistic, enthusiastic, curious and… dreamer.

How did your passion for makeup come about?

Although I first studied biomedical sciences for a year and then marketing, I have always been in love with beauty, fashion and everything that is visually fascinating. After that period of my life, I worked for the American brand Khiels at L’Oréal And at that moment, my passion for makeup really made sense. It was a dizzying feeling, like jumping into the void, but if I had to do it again, I would do it again without hesitation.

Which meeting impressed you the most?

The one with a make-up artist Inge Grognard. We worked together on a shoot about ten years ago and have since worked on countless projects together, each one crazier than the last. She was a mentor and inspiration to me, shaping much of my creative journey.

What was your most beautiful experience?

My first show in Paris Fashion week with Meryl Rogge in 2022 because it was a lifelong dream to be part of this universe. The idea of ​​leading my own team at a fashion show was almost surreal.

What would be your dream job?

Start my lipstick brand!

What inspires you?

I find my inspiration in the beauty of everyday life, on a walk in the forest, in an exhibition or when I discover, for example, a sublime restaurant with a decoration that I like. But other artists often inspire me because looking at their work makes me go beyond my limits. In my opinion, inspiration is a starting point that must be surpassed in order to build your own story and chart your own path.

A beauty routine based on skin care

In the evening, after cleansing my face twice, I apply a toner, a rosehip seed oil from the house Maiwe brand and then an ultra-moisturizing cream (depending on your mood for the day).
