It will be chilly in the middle of winter for most of next week

FORT WAYNE, Ind. (WPTA) — Cold weather will continue for the next seven days. Morning lows on Sunday will be in the mid 10s, with temperatures feeling like they will be in the single digits. On Sunday afternoon temperatures will be above 20 degrees, but the wind will cool below 10 degrees.

On Monday we expect to reach freezing levels again in the afternoon, and on Wednesday temperatures will peak at over 30 degrees, which is still about 5 degrees colder than normal. Then temperatures will drop back to freezing, if not below, for the afternoon highs Thursday through Saturday. For reference, an average high temperature of 32 degrees is expected on January 1st, not December 1st when the average high temperature is in the low 40s.

Aside from some lake-effect snow flurries, dry conditions and a mix of sun and clouds are expected Sunday through Tuesday afternoon.

Your next first warning

Our next weather system moves north on Wednesday with the possibility of a light rain/snow mix, followed by lake effect snow on Thursday. Another weather system predicts there will be snow on Saturday. At this time, the exact timing and impacts of these weather systems are still being determined, but Saturday’s system could result in minor but widespread snow accumulation.
