It will snow 6 to 9 meters at Buffalo Bills Stadium. Light snow is expected at kickoff on Sunday

Orchard Park, NY – The Buffalo Bills’ stadium is expected to get 2 to 3 feet of snow by kickoff Sunday night, when light snow and a wind chill of about 17 degrees are forecast.

Parts of Upstate New York will experience lake effect snow, with the western area receiving the most snow. The State Thruway was closed west of Buffalo and a state of emergency was declared for several counties.

The Bills take on the San Francisco 49ers at Orchard Park on Sunday at 8:20 p.m.

Orchard Park will see about two to three feet of snow, said Kirk Apffel, a meteorologist with the National Weather Service’s Buffalo office.

The lake effect snow is moving in Saturday morning and will continue through the night into Sunday, Apffel said.

By Sunday evening, the lake effect will subside and there could be only light snow, he said.

According to the weather service, it should be 28 degrees at kickoff and a wind chill of 17 degrees.

The team put out a request Friday for fans interested in shoveling snow to clear the way for the game.

In January 2024, Bills Stadium was buried under nearly two feet of snow as the team faced the Pittsburgh Steelers. This game was postponed from Sunday to Monday due to snow.
