It’s getting colder

ALL WEEK. AND WHEN IT COMES TO AVERAGE SNOWFALL, FOUR OF THE FIVE ARE ALWAYS IN UPSTATE NEW YORK. One of them is Syracuse, where I went to school for a year. I think we had 200 inches of snow, but they’re obviously used to it, but not five feet at a time. YES, KEEP THAT ALL UP THERE. EVERYTHING. ALL. I think that’s the most important thing. You know what’s interesting about these lake effect snow events, right. They’re kind of a victim of the warm fall, right. Because if we had a typical fall, it could be that a little ice would have already formed on the lakes. BUT IF YOU ARE AS WARM AS YOU ARE BECAUSE WE HAVE EXTREMELY HEAT IN NOVEMBER. RIGHT. YOU GET THIS BURST OF COLD AIR AND SO YOU CAN CREATE ENOUGH INSTABILITY FOR 60 INCHES OF SNOW. YOU KNOW, IN 24 HOURS OR TWO. AND A HALF DAY. And obviously there is no snow equipment or even a lot of plows that can handle this kind of snow. I know I saw people stranded up there on some highways near the Great Lakes over the holiday weekend. SOME POULTRY AND LIGHT SNOW HAPPENING HERE ALSO. OCCASIONALLY YOU CAN SEE IT OVER THE SKYLINE HERE, WITH A VIEW FROM OFFICIAL AT CVG ONLY ABOUT TWO MILES. THE OTHER LOCATIONS ARE NOT REPORTING ANY SNOWFALL YET. And that will be the nature of what we see here. TONIGHT. There are heavy thunderstorms and snow showers, and while I don’t expect any real accumulation of them with temperatures near freezing and below and the ground cold, you can never completely rule out a slippery spot or two. POTENTIALLY IN DEVELOPMENT. Alright, here’s a look at the hectic action out there. Now some of it doesn’t reach the ground again. IT JUST DEPENDS ON YOUR LOCATION. Notice how it really falls apart at the edge, especially the further east you get from Cincinnati. WE HAVE ALSO HAD SOME REPORTS OF POULTRY AND SNOW SHOWERS ACROSS SOUTHEAST INDIANA. So keep an eye out for a slippery spot or two every now and then. I think especially when you get into more rural areas. Otherwise, the more impactful part of this snow event is tonight in Kentucky. We’re just kind of notched on the north side of this as that helps amplify the cold air. WE ALREADY HAVE IT. So again, no real accumulation, but when you have temperatures that cold and we’ve been here for at least a full hour now, what, 48 hours longer than that, 72 hours. I guess even before the weekend. Anything that falls obviously sticks. The other story: The wind is cooling tonight. Luckily there is hardly any wind. THEY’RE HOVERING IN THE MID 20’S BECAUSE WIND COOLS IN THE MID 20’S FEEL GOOD COMPARED TO WHAT’S COMING IN THE SECOND HALF OF THE WEEK. FOR US. So we’ll have a real blast of arctic air for us from Wednesday evening through Thursday. AND WELL, THIS IS WHAT YOU WILL SEE HERE WITH THE EFFECTS OF THE COLD TONIGHT. I would go with medium impact for the season. It’s winter. We expect it to be cold, or at least in late autumn before winter begins. So pretty moderate impact until Wednesday. But on Thursday morning I think the cold is having a much more serious impact on us. LIKELY DANGEROUSLY COLD WITH WIND CHILLS BELOW ZERO ON THURSDAY MORNING. Here is your 12 hour forecast for tonight. SOME FLOWER AND SNOW SHOWERS BEFORE MIDNIGHT, AFTER MIDNIGHT skies will clear. Temperatures will drop into the teens for us and it will be a cold morning tomorrow. HERE’S A LOOK AT FUTURECAST. You can see we clean up after midnight. Those thunderstorms and snow showers. Get out of here. COLD SUNSHINE RETURNS TO THE TRI-STATE TOMORROW. UNDER PARTLY CLOUDY SKIES. And then as we go into Tuesday evening and Wednesday, it’s still quiet. Although daytime Wednesday, this cloud cover represents the next blast of cold air beginning Wednesday night. SO SOME EARLY HUMBLES AND SNOW SHOWERS. It’s a cold night. TOMORROW WE’RE STILL 17. We’re at 33, so we’ll try to hit that freezing mark. Here’s another look at your daily planner. MORE SUNSHINE TOMORROW SO YOU FEEL AT LEAST GOOD IN THE SUN. HERE IS YOUR SEVEN DAY FORECAST. There will be a small increase in temperature on Wednesday ahead of the Arctic front. THERE COULD BE A FEW RAIN OR SNOW SHOWERS HERE WEDNESDAY EVENING, BUT THURSDAY WILL BE THE BITTER COLD DAY OF THE WEEK. It will never feel this warm. AND YES, DANGEROUS COLD IS EXPECTED WITH TEMPERATURES ON THURSDAY MORNING PROBABLY BETWEEN 15% BUT WITH THE WIND IT WILL FEEL LIKE IT’S NEAR ZERO, MAYBE EVEN BELOW THURSDAY MORNING AND YOU CAN SEE THAT IT’S HORRIBLE ALL DAY STAYING COLD BUT IT LOOKS LIKE THE ARCTIC The air will just relieve us Just in time when we go in

It’s cold now, but even colder later this week.
