Jaguar’s bizarre rebranding continues with the Type 00 concept electric car

The previous leaks were accurate: the Type 00 two-door coupe features a long hood leading to a low roof and a hatchback rear profile that does away with a rear window. Gerry McGovern, Jaguar’s chief creative officer, said in a presentation: “When Jaguar was at its best, it threw out the design rules and created the E-Type and the XJS…objects of desire.” This car is intended to be another step in that be direction.

There are many details, such as 23-inch wheels, an oval steering wheel, three brass bars running through the cabin, butterfly doors and a stone base separating the seats. We also can’t miss the thin, Lincoln Nautilus-style display on the inside of the windshield, which remains intact even when the main interior screens are folded away and out of sight.

They’re all here as a design preview for the first new-generation production Jaguar, an electric four-door GT that will be unveiled late next year.

Jaguar predicts a range of up to 430 miles and a fast charging feature that can give the real car a range of up to 200 miles in just 15 minutes. But for now we just have to look at the sleek concept vehicle presented at Miami Art Week in Miami Pink and London Blue, and a very standard invitation to sign up for more information.
