Jaguar’s future design direction is leaked just hours before the big reveal

jaguar has had a rough week on the internet and its new concept car has just leaked ahead of its official reveal. Since the theme of Jaguar’s new vehicles is defined by the term “exuberant modernism,” we’re not too shocked by what we see here. With Jaguar announcing a new logo and branding, new cars would be the obvious next step. The Design Vision Concept will be fully revealed tonight, but the internet did its best and skipped a few steps.

Where should I start? Jaguar hasn’t had an easy time of late, scrapping a production vehicle fairly late in the cycle and then launching an interesting new campaign that wasn’t entirely well received. The new concept car has been leaked ahead of its official unveiling at Miami Art Week.

The concept is not bad. It leans a little more towards the BMW XM than I would have hoped and has some very futuristic Tesla Cybertruck style body panels. However, the automaker has promised that the new models won’t “copy anything,” so… there’s that.

The images leaked so far are pretty simple. Jaguar’s concept car has a fairly minimalist exterior and interior, showcasing a long and prominent hood. This really is Jaguar by Jaguar, so we’re not too shocked by it. It adds a little more weight to the extremely modern Jaguar XKE.

There doesn’t appear to be much A-pillar at the front, giving the impression of an almost full wraparound windshield/window arrangement.

The front end reminds me of Lexus’ new SUV models, with a rectangular, body-colored grille that is seamlessly integrated into the front end. Slim headlights surround the grille at the front. It looks like a vent – rectangular with big, straight lines. When Jaguar released the new logo, the automaker called this shape “Strikethrough.” “This bold linear graphic creates a distinctive presence and an instantly recognizable look and feel for Jaguar, impressing through imitation and the ordinary.” Using this strikethrough shape on the logo and front/back of the new vehicles is a great way to create a cohesive show concept. Is it suitable for the front and rear of production vehicles? The jury is still out on that one.

This shape is essentially copy/pasted onto the back end. The taillights appear to be a single row of lights at the top and bottom of the rectangular vent shape. We already knew from Jaguar releases that there was no rear window. However, there are cameras around the vehicle, which will hopefully make up for the lack of a window at the back.

We don’t know too much about the production vehicle, but many of the visual cues seen here will likely be featured in some way. We think it has four doors, a slotted front fascia and a similarly futuristic look. It’s expected to hit the market sometime in 2026 and is expected to cost more than $100,000. This positions it alongside other luxury electric vehicles such as the Porsche Taycan and Lucid Air.

This concept car is quite detailed, but that’s not unusual for any concept car. Hopefully we’ll get more concrete details on the design and performance after the actual release of this new Jag.
