A source reports exclusively Us weekly that Kennedy, 32, “told friends they were just taking a break,” noting that “they’re still talking.” But the insider adds that “everyone around them thinks they’re done and can’t come back from this.”

In December 2024, it was announced that Kennedy had been arrested for domestic violence. Us confirmed at the time that police were dispatched to Kennedy’s home after receiving a call about an argument between a man and a woman. A witness is said to have seen Kennedy grab the woman. Officers who responded to the scene saw no visible injuries and Kennedy was later released on $20,000 bail.

James Kennedy seems to feel a certain distance from his girlfriend Ally Lewber after his arrest on domestic violence charges. Lewber’s parents “came into town, rented an Airbnb and took her there,” a source familiar with the situation told Us Weekly exclusively, adding that the couple is “keeping some distance, but that’s not the case.” (…)”

According to police records, the woman told Burbank police that “her boyfriend picked her up and threw her to the ground.” In response, Kennedy’s legal team released a statement on his behalf.

“We are in the process of conducting our own investigation into the allegations made against James by the Burbank Police Department,” his lawyers said in a statement to Us. “We know there were no injuries and we hope that after careful consideration, prosecutors will decide not to file formal charges.”

Days later, Lewber, 29, addressed the incident. “Thank you to everyone who reached out with love and support and took care of me,” she wrote on her Instagram Story in December 2024. “I’m doing well and taking the time I need right now. I really appreciate all of the kindness and respect for my privacy during this time.”

After the arrest, a separate source said exclusively Us that Kennedy and Lewber have “some distance” from each other. Us contacted their representatives at the time.

Lewber, who has been dating Kennedy since 2022, previously hinted at “new beginnings” this year while pondering astrology for 2025.

“This year is a transition. We’re entering new territory that we’ve never experienced before or haven’t experienced in a long time,” Lewber said on TikTok on January 12th. “We are all experiencing and creating a new reality together. So it’s really up to us how we want to perform this year.”

She was later seen carrying items from their shared home on January 17.
