Janet Price Sutton, a beloved mother, grandmother and friend, passed away peacefully surrounded by her family on November 30, 2024 at the age of 78. Born January 19, 1946, in Johnston County, North Carolina, to the late Dallas and Vera Price, Janet lived a life filled with love, laughter and faith.

In addition to her parents, Janet was also preceded in death by her husband, James Sutton; her brothers Donald and Tommie Mack Price; and her sisters Sylvia Price and Evelyn Hinton.

She is survived by her loving children: Sammy Johnson Jr. (Carol) of Selma, Debbie Eason and Julie McCraw of Wilson’s Mills, Tammy Forbis (Jerry) of Goldsboro and Angie Sutton of Goldsboro. Janet’s legacy also lives on through her beloved grandchildren: James Johnson (Sarah), Samantha Moye (Blake), Hunter Eason, Kyle Eason, Megan Thompson (Shane), Haley Parrish (Blane), Madison, Taylor Tyndall (Garrett) and Zach Waddell (Sarah) and her great-grandchildren: Myles Thompson, Sawyer Thompson, Henry Moye and Sofia Tyndall. She will be deeply missed by her sister, Dorothy Smith of Black Creek, and her large extended Johnson family.

Janet was a woman of strong faith. Although she was unable to attend services in person, she remained connected to her church community through online services. She found joy in the company of her dear friends Sherry, Joy and Frankie.

With her sense of adventure, Janet loved traveling. She had a knack for making people smile and often brought laughter to any gathering. An experienced card player, she inherited her love of cards from her parents and was known for her competitive spirit. Janet will truly be missed by all who knew her.

A viewing will be held at Seymour Funeral Home on Tuesday, December 3rd from 6:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. The funeral will be held at 11:00 a.m. Wednesday, December 4, at First Church. Flowers are welcome, or you can make a donation to The First Church.
