Jared Moskowitz is reportedly set to take over as head of FEMA under Donald Trump

He repeatedly called for an increase in the agency’s resources.

Democratic US Representative. Jared Moskowitz of Parkland is reportedly one of the top candidates to lead the Federal Emergency Management Agency (FEMA) under the president-elect Donald Trump.

The second-year federal lawmaker who led Florida’s Division of Emergency Management during the pandemic under Gov. Ron DeSantisHe is a “top contender” for the job, said CNN chief reporter Steve Contorno reported.

Moskowitz, 43, worked at for nearly a decade Ashbritt Inc.a Deerfield Beach-based emergency management company before accepting the governor’s appointment in January 2019.

He held the state post for two and a half years and was nicknamed “Master of Disaster.”

Florida Politics contacted Moskowitz and his acting communications director, Keith Nagyfor comment but did not receive one as of press time.

A former member of the Florida House of Representatives and Broward County Commissioner, Moskowitz has earned a reputation as a skilled, persuasive policymaker with a… sharp tongue and preference for Cross the political aisle.

Since winning his seat representing Florida’s 23rd Congressional District in 2022, Moskowitz has repeatedly called for increased FEMA funding before and after natural disasters hit the Sunshine State.
