The 18-year-old Walton is in the early stages of his professional boxing career. But don’t let his acting career fool you. Check out his career as an amateur boxer and find out when he picked up boxing gloves. The Euphoria star started boxing at the age of 8, and within a few years, clips of him throwing quick punches were making the rounds on the internet and even drawing parallels Floyd Mayweather Jr. That’s not it. All of this contributed to him securing the title of multiple junior regional champion and two junior Olympic silver medals. This is the beginning of a boxing career. However, his professional boxing career was a mixed story.

The Georgia native has a record of 1-0-1 since making his debut last December. He is still becoming a better boxer and his 100% KO rate is just an indication of the extent of the improvement. In addition, Walton is 173 cm tall and uses his high-energy approach and quick combinations. But how will he fare against Hanley?

Hanley, 31, is the older of the two but has only competed in two professional fights. Therefore, there are very few samples for us to make a fair assessment of him. The Oceanside native made his debut two years ago in a knockout loss and spent two years honing his skills. This was evident when he faced Luis Andres Martinez and secured a third-round knockout victory, improving his record to 1-1 with 1 KO. He has developed a penchant for knockouts, with a knockout rate of 100%.

Interestingly, Hanley also has the same body measurements as Walton as he is also 173cm tall. The similarities don’t end there. We also don’t have any range measurement on him. Both fighters also weighed 130 pounds in their last fight. But how will their fight end?

Why is there so much excitement around Walton? He has strong fundamentals, with a particular emphasis on his footwork, quick hands and clean punches. He is also recognized by strong coverage, strong defense and effective counterattacks. He will also look to build on his strong and extensive amateur record despite spending time on Hollywood projects. While he looked lackluster in his last fight, he attributed this to injuries. Walton admitted “That was 20 percent of what I could fight for. The performance wasn’t exactly what I wanted.”

This time around, expect Walton to give it his all and fire off even more jabs, which he admittedly didn’t convert in his last fight. What if he can’t? It remains to be seen. Hanley has also shown brilliant talent and his learning curve has also been steep. But we still have Walton winning this game. He has the amateur experience, the youth on his side and a better foundation. Still, Hanley can’t be ruled out in this fight.
