John Mulaney brings Baltimores John Waters together, Stavros Halkias, together

On Wednesday evening in Los Angeles, two famous Baltimoreans met a aspiring comedy star and a pop culture illuminance-especially.

The stand-up comedian Stavros Halkias and the multi-hyphenate “Pope of the garbage”, John Waters, were two of the guests presented in “Everything’s Live with John Mulaney”, Netflix ‘New Live Talk Show.

“How is it that we have never met?” Asked Water’s Halkias.

“You are the man,” he said to the author director “Hairspray”. “I saw you in Club Chuck.”

“Ok, I’m still going there,” replied Waters.

AHH, the smalltimore effect that plays on live television. It is difficult not to love it.

The strange-for-stranger search variety show had the feeling of a series only in its fourth follow-up-“What happens here?” Asked Wanda Sykes, another comedian with Maryland after Halkias speculated about public masturbation in front of the Supreme Court – but the moments between Halkias and Waters were the highlights. Here are three quick snack bars.

1. Water showed a Rock & Roll Hall of Famer for a night in Baltimore that they would not forget.

When Halkias’ hometown district showed Greectown, the water shone.

“The best lesbian bar was there. The best, creepiest who ever called the port by storm,” he said.

“I brought Debbie Harry there,” said Waters about the blond singer. “She said it was the scaryest bar in which she was in her life.”

2. Of course Mulaney couldn’t help but record the wire.

“Stavvy, they are very” Wire “season 2”, said the host and referred to the Stevedore-centered season, in which the shadowy organized crime leader The Greek was seen.

Although Halkias was only a teenager when the 2003 season was broadcast on HBO, he had a personal connection to the production.

“You literally turned it into the restaurant where my mother was a waiter,” he said. “I had a lot of crab cakes and Calamari from there.”

3. Waters has one thing for anarchists.

The topic of the episode was house occupiers who illegally occupy the property of someone else, which caused Mulaney to ask water whether he is “pro-Landlord”.

“Well, I once agreed a house -occupier,” said the director “serial mother”. “Someone went along the street and said:” John Waters, can I live with you? “I said yes.” (Another fun detail: Water mentioned that he has an electric chair in the front hall of his house.)

There was a catch: “He couldn’t spend the night. He could only crouch. He couldn’t sleep in a building unless he collapsed. He was an anarchist, so he was fun,” said Waters after Halkia’s joy.

Then the punch line came: “Like Antifa, they have good outfits,” said Waters about the attraction of the anarchists. “All the blacks and the garbage can be on it with adhesive tape. They somehow look good.”
