JonBenét Ramsey’s father John criticizes the murder theory about her brother Burke

After Patsy Ramsey called 911 at 5:52 a.m. on December 26, 1996 to report that her daughter Jon Benét Ramsey had been kidnapped, she and her husband John Ramsey They also reached out to some of their friends, who immediately came over to support the couple.

In addition to the responding officers, people milled around the Ramseys’ 5,000 square foot home all day long before John found JonBenét’s body in the basement shortly after 1:30 p.m

“I should have removed all those people from the scene, that was a mistake at the scene,” the retired Boulder police officer said Bob Whitson mentioned in the Netflix documentaries Cold Case: Who Killed JonBenét Ramsey?. “But at the time it looked like a legitimate kidnapping. So I thought, well, this is the support system for the Ramseys and I’ll let them stay.”

John didn’t know she was dead when he found her, and said in the series that he initially tried to untie the cord that bound her hands. The knots were too tight, he said, but he removed a piece of tape covering her mouth and threw it on a blanket that had been with the body.

He then carried her upstairs, which, according to investigators, caused the collected evidence on her body, the pajamas she wore, the duct tape, etc. to be contaminated.

“If the tape had not been removed, there might have been marks on it,” Whitson said in the series.
