Juan Soto has just been put down some pens

Steve Cohen and the Mets have rewritten the manual for the torpedo of a baseball franchise – all in the name of beating the Yankees. In her despair of flexing financial muscles, she threw Juan Soto, a player who was almost a billion dollar on the field during a monster on the plate, almost one billion in the field, almost a billion dollar.

The experienced scout Tyler Kepner finally said what I have been shouting for years: Juan Soto is overrated. Finally, someone with the courage to call it the way it is! Sure, the guy can beat, but he is a selfish player and his defense? Liability. But every time I point to it, it is like talking to a wall. But now that Kepner maybe – maybe – only – people will open their eyes.

Cohen has just sabotaged baseball by providing a deal that regretted it. In about three years, when Soto feels around the first base or hidden at DH, the Mets will still have eleven years left to do this monstrosity of a contract. I hope that the family suite was worth it.

Kepner did not draw any blows. He compared Soto to Brian Giles-a Fantastic Schlagmann, but hardly any other game channel. “Giles was an elite hitter”, “ Said Kepner. “But he was not defensive or a game channel on the bases. Soto is the same – he has a great bat, but it doesn’t offer much outside of it. “ Sounds familiar? This is because I said it before the Yankees signed him at all!

Kepner threw a small restriction and said: “He could always improve his defense when he matures”, “ But let’s be real – why would he? This contract is a golden ticket for complacency. We have already seen it: boys secure the bag and suddenly the hustle and bustle disappears. Soto was paid. He doesn’t have to run, dive or make additional efforts. In a few years, when he started for the first time for the first time, the METs will be stuck when he pays the top dollar for a glorified Ie.

Essentially sport says: “Soto is just starting. At the age of only 26, the sky is the border. After Soto led the AL in runs and hit 41 Home Runs, he has the potential to do even more.

It’s all good and good for now, but let’s go forward quickly for a few years. If Soto’s legs are gone when he is a statue in the outer field when his contract is an anchor who rejects the meters – what then? He will ask to play i.e. and of course the meters will lower. They gave him the keys to the kingdom. Nobody still sees it, but they will do it.

Cohen destroyed the meters. Sure, you could make some short -term profits, but in the long run? Disaster. Cohen fought so hard to beat the Yankees. I hope it was worth it. Mets fans will hold on to see a declining player who gives up the salary statement. The Yankees evaded a ball.

Don’t take my word for it – you get Johnny Damon. In conversation with DJ Siddiqi from Sportscasting.com, Damon said: “He is a great player. When the Yankees Juan Soto could not get, they could go out and get a number of all stars in which the team could actually be better. They have more high-quality players nearby.”

Exactly. A player does not guarantee a championship. If this were the case, the Yankees would have won everything in 2024. Soto was phenomenal in the post -season – 327 average, 16 hits, 4 Home Runs, 9 RBis, 12 runs in 14 games. But do you guess what? No ring.

So, enjoy it while it takes, Stevie. The warning signs are there. When Soto begins to fake fly balls when he is liability on the bases if he clogs the salary statement with a contract that has been clogged for a decade, we sang all: Bri-an Gi-les! Smap clapping, clapping clap clapping!
