Judge examines validity of charges in Oak Grove murder case

The attorney for a Clarksville teen charged with murder has asked the court to reject a superseding indictment because the charge does not come from juvenile court.

Doug Moore represents 17-year-old Oziya Narcisse, who is accused of shooting Isiah McCoy during a party at a home on Carbondale Drive in Oak Grove in May.

Narcisse was indicted by the Christian County grand jury in August but was cleared to stand trial as an adult in November when he made his first appearance in Christian County Circuit Court.

A new charge was filed in the case, but Moore argued Thursday that the case should first be sent back to juvenile court because the original charge was flawed. Assistant Commonwealth’s Attorney Mark Gilbert disagreed with Moore’s assessment.

The parties return to court on December 19, where Judge Atkins is expected to make his charging decision and hold a bond reduction hearing for Narcisse, who is being held at the Warren County Juvenile Detention Center on murder charges. The defense asked that Narcisse be released into the custody of his father, who lives in Clarksville.
