The incident came less than a day after Juventus made an opening offer for the Uruguayan defender.

The Bianconeri have reportedly offered a transfer fee of €35 million to bring the 25-year-old to Turin this month, while Barcelona are pushing for a fee in the region of €70-80 million.

Araujo will enter the final year of his contract in the summer and has only recently returned from a four-month injury layoff.

Before Flick received the reported text message, he had just answered questions about Araujo’s future in Catalonia. The German made it clear that he would like to keep Araujo on board.

“He is doing well and he is an option for us. For me there is nothing to discuss, I want him in my team because he is one of the best central defenders ever,” Flick said during his press conference, Marca reported.
