Kalen DeBoer advocates for Alabama to make the College Football Playoff

Kalen DeBoer argued for it Alabama to do that College Football Playofff after a win Auburn in the iron bowl.

A 9-3 record against a tough schedule is definitely an argument for the Crimson Tide. They also defeated Georgia, which plays for the SEC title next week.

DeBoer cited Alabama’s wins against ranked opponents as a big reason a spot in the 12-team bracket should be reserved for the Tide.

“I think everyone knows our schedule and I don’t know the exact stats, but I know we beat four top-25 teams during the year,” DeBoer said. “I don’t know how many, if any, did that. So when you talk about the schedule and what it looks like week to week. It’s just tedious and you have to come back every week. That’s really the only conference that needs to do that, ours. I would say that. We’ve won (four) of our last six. Play some physical football.

“I think we continued to excel in that area and do what the games are about. I think those are two pretty big deals. We beat some quality teams, teams that I think are still out there playing good ball themselves. And then in the second half of the season we just won (four) of the last six.”

The problem for Alabama is the losses. An ugly loss last week Oklahoma almost knocked them out of the playoffs.

Plus losses Vanderbilt And Tennessee don’t help. Although Tennessee looks like a playoff team after the Vols’ 10-2 regular season.

Ironically, DeBoer actually tied the school record for most wins by a first-year head coach at Alabama, despite criticism of a 9-3 season.

“It’s always about the team. All the victories I achieve are always about the team and the staff and everything we do. I wish we had had more, and that’s how I see it. But from a season perspective, there are ups and downs. This is part of every program. Championship programs go through the same thing every year. I’m going back to the way I just care about these guys. And I think we really grew closer as a team in the last half of the season. The staff and the players have just developed a real connection, a love for each other that I think has really grown over the last three, four, five games here. I think the hard times bring you closer together and you can see the reaction.

“I wish everyone could be in that locker room. And it’s not this crazy party going on downstairs. It’s just love and care for each other and smiles. That’s what it’s about. Every week the ups and downs come together. Yes, it was a great ride in many ways. Of course there are times when you would like a few things to go a little better.”
