Kalen DeBoer is making the case for Alabama to be in the College Football Playoff

Kalen DeBoer hopes to coach in a College Football Playoff game later this month. At this point, Alabama’s fate rests in the hands of the CFP selection committee.

DeBoer’s Crimson Tide team entered Rivalry Week ranked 13th by the committee. While the playoffs consist of 12 teams, UA was actually the second team eliminated as the Big 12 champion is on track to secure one of the 5 conference champion spots. Arizona State is currently the highest-ranked Big 12 team at No. 16.

Before Alabama, No. 2 Ohio State, No. 6 Miami and No. 12 Clemson all lost games. It’s only the second loss of the season for Ohio State and Miami, but neither team will be playing for the conference title. Clemson will fall, but the Tigers will play for the ACC Championship.

Another immediate concern for Alabama is the team that beat Clemson, South Carolina. The Gamecocks are on a six-game winning streak since losing to Alabama on Oct. 12.

DeBeor is asking the committee to review Alabama’s schedule. He pointed to wins over four ranked opponents (Georgia, South Carolina, Mizzou, LSU).

The next playoff rankings will be announced on Tuesday. Many in Tuscaloosa will certainly be excited to see where the committee places the Crimson Tide.
