Kansas State coach Chris Klieman says he wishes the team got “more respect.”

The Kansas State Wildcats’ loss on Saturday night officially ended any national title expectations the team had at the start of the season.

However, coach Chris Klieman had encouraging words for the team’s season.

He acknowledged the problems with some of their losses this year and said the program is “struggling to correct the mistakes.”

“I won’t kill anyone in the program; it’s a collective effort,” Klieman said. “Not executing, going offside, saving a penalty, positioning incorrectly. There’s a lot to say there. I want to say upfront that I know everyone wants KState to go undefeated, and I want to go undefeated. It’s frustrating that we lost a couple of games where we felt like we had a chance.

Above all, he would like to acknowledge the successes, especially in the past few seasons.

“I will support and support this football team and the coaches,” Klieman said. “We won eight games, there are eight teams in the country that have done that and we are one of those eight. And I wish our children would get their respect. Our kids and our coaches are really disrespected because of a loss. “A bad play call, or something like that. It’s a tough business at the moment and we’ve won for the fourth year in a row. And there are eight teams in college football that made the league that went the other way, and this team didn’t.

Klieman on turnovers against Iowa State:

“Guys, I mean, this is the most obvious thing,” Klieman said. “If we turn the ball over, we won’t be successful. We dropped two picks. I get it, man, I appreciate the questions about things. We turned the ball over and they didn’t. We had two options with picks, guys. They hurt you a lot.

“You can’t play against a team like that and make the mistakes we made. We made mistakes in the first half that led to points, and you can’t do that against good football teams.”
