Kassie Mowry rides away with a fourth-round win to break Kinsel’s three-game streak

Kassie Mowry left the fourth round of the Wrangler National Finals Rodeo $33,687 richer, breaking Hailey Kinsel’s three-game winning streak.

With the bar already set high in the first three heats of the fourth round, the remaining twelve barrel racer champions had a lot to offer. The first female racer to cross the electric eyes was Tiany Schuster on the famous Mic Guy Ver. The team put together a solid run, posting a time of 13.68 to kick off the fourth night of barrel racing.

Schuster’s run remained firmly in first place until the eighth team of the evening ran their pattern with a time of 13.59. Carlee Otero took the lead for the evening with her flawless run and chased the payoff for first place. With only seven teams remaining, Otero had the fourth round firmly in control.

However, all eyes were on Kinsel tonight as her route was nothing but clean and fast through the first three rounds of the NFR. She wanted to run right after Otero, so she knew how much time she still had to pass to continue her winning streak. Unfortunately her time of 13.61 wasn’t quite enough for first place, but she still rode out of the arena with some money in her pocket.

Through the first three rounds, Kinsel had raised $111,000 (including her $10,000 automatic scholarship), putting her at least $90,000 ahead of her competition.

Kinsel and Otero were each knocked down as the evening’s winning team, Kassie Mowry and Force The Goodbye, recorded a 13.43 run. Her textbook run was fast and clean, placing her in first place ahead of Otero on the night. With only two teams left following Mowry, her fate was sealed.

In the fourth round, three teams hit at least one barrel and another team knocked down all three. Many of the women are making their debut in Las Vegas and still have plenty of runs and opportunities to make an impact before the NFR ends.

Some key points to note for the fifth round: Abby Phillips was way up in average, but with a horse change and a hit in the fourth round she will see a slight increase in average. Halyn Lide earned her first check against Jettin Ta Heaven with a run of 13.72, moving ahead of LaTricia Duke on the night.

On the fifth night, some of these girls will try to maintain their place in the average, while others will try to completely shake up the average. With every run, these teams know exactly what’s going on here in Vegas.
