Ken was born on June 7, 1955 in Rupert, Idaho. His life was one of adventure, service and deep love for his family. After suffering the loss of his parents at a young age, he moved to Hagerman, New Mexico, where he completed high school. He then attended Boise State University, where he earned a degree in accounting and finance while proudly representing the Broncos on the football field. He later earned a master’s degree in business administration.

In Boise, Ken met his wife Cathy. In 1981, they began an adventure by moving to Alaska and raising three sons on the Kenai Peninsula. There, Ken instilled in them a love of nature, sports and the Alaskan spirit. After 24 years in the Last Frontier, the family moved to Pinehurst, Idaho, where Ken regularly enjoyed his passions of golf and snowboarding.

Ken excelled as a certified public accountant and chief financial officer and has worked for various government, private and public entities. His most valued role was with Agrium Alaska (Unocal) Nitrogen Operations. Ken was a dedicated community member and volunteered countless hours for organizations such as the Civil Air Patrol, Boys and Girls Clubs and the Central Peninsula Hospital Service Area. He was also appointed to the Alaska State Board of Public Accountancy.

Ken is survived by his wife of 45 years, Cathy (Beebe) Mayer; his sons Matthew (Heather), Evan (Victoria) and Kenny; his brothers Tony and Rick Mayer; and sisters Margaret Herzog and Mary Castronova. He was preceded in death by his parents Emil and Edna Mayer, his sister Dolores Sieg and his brother Russ Mayer.

Four months ago, Ken was blessed with a grandson, which brought him great joy in his final days.
