Keshet makes TV series about October 7th massacre – Israel Culture

A five-part series entitled “Red Alert” is being developed about the Hamas terrorist attack against Israel on October 7, 2023. This project is a collaboration between Israeli television channel Keshet 12 and global content distributor Keshet International.

You have worked with acclaimed producer Lawrence Bender, known for his work on “Pulp Fiction” And “Inglourious Basterds“, together with the Israeli company Green Productions, which has been recognized for projects such as “Golda” and “Cinema Sabaya”. Together they want to bring this important story to life.

Other funding partners include the Jewish National Fund USA, the Israel Entertainment Fund and Jordana Reuben Yechiel.

That day, more than 1,200 people were murdered and around 250 were taken hostage in the Gaza border region, 101 of whom are still being held by Hamas in Gaza.

Red alert is the name given to a warning when rockets are fired, and the attack began that day with heavy rocket fire covering the area. The series focuses on five people who fought for their lives against a heavily armed enemy – a battle they never expected – and tells stories of their tragedy and heroism.

Red Alert, which will film in spring 2025, is written, written and directed by Lior Chefetz, who directed the drama about the Yom Kippur War The fortresswhich was both a film and a television series. It is co-created by Ruth Efroni and co-written by Kineret Peled and Idan Hubel. The dialogue will be conducted in Hebrew, Arabic and English and the series is expected to premiere on the second anniversary of the attack in October 2025.

Karni Ziv, head of drama and comedy at Keshet 12, said: “For a while there seemed to be no sensible dramatic approach to retelling such a profound event. We needed time and perspective to find the right project and creative partners to help us tell this story in the right way. In Red Alert, the human drama goes beyond the war, which sometimes serves as a backdrop and sometimes as the story itself, to convey a message of hope and solidarity.”

Bender, whose company is Bender Brown Productions and whose films have been nominated for 36 Oscars and won nine, said: “Red Alert will embark on an intense and emotional journey that explores the indomitable human spirit.” This international action drama will explore the unwavering determination show real people tackling unimaginable challenges to create a compelling viewing experience.”
