LA Rams HC Sean McVay announces decision on WR Demarcus Robinson for Week 13

Yes, there is a cloud of uncertainty hanging over the head and future of LA Rams veteran wide receiver Demarcus Robinson. And this all stemmed from a flood of reports about the arrest of Demarcus Robinson Earlier this week on suspicion of driving under the influence of alcohol. As this story continues to unfold, there was a more immediate matter that directly impacted Robinson’s status with the team in Week 13.

The Los Angeles Rams (5-6) travel to face the New Orleans Saints (4-7) and the Rams are virtually on the verge of chasing postseason contention. And WR Demarcus Robinson is one of the top scoring receivers on the team.

His importance to the offense made Robinson’s fate crucial to the team’s decision. And it has almost certainly led to the team making a decision about its fate. And so the Rams let the league investigation continue, but let Robinson play until the NFL directs him on Sunday.

Was it the right decision?

You decide. The Rams’ decision does not contradict the recommendations of the NFL investigation or the league’s official response to the incident. The team will just carry on as usual until the NFL officially decides what to do.

Demarcus Robinson has already overplayed his 2023 NFL season for the Rams. While his catch percentage is down, he has more receiving yards, more first downs and more receiving touchdowns than he did a year ago.

The Rams have significantly underperformed this season and the team needs as much of Demarcus Robinson as possible. Robinson leads all receivers with six touchdowns, while the rest of the team scores nine touchdowns. Therefore, Robinson’s absence would be a huge blow to the team.

But Robinson is perfectly suited to be the third receiver option in this offense behind Puka Nacua and Cooper Kupp. He has even scored five touchdowns for the team since the BYE week in Week 6. Robinson will likely be the subject of an NFL ruling, but that ruling is still in the future for now. The Rams need to win now, which is why the Rams decided to let Robinson start.

As always, thanks for reading.
