Larenz Tate and Nia Long reunite for nostalgic Christmas commercial ‘Love Jones’ | News

Lawrence Tate And Nia Long are giving social media a major case of Love Jones nostalgia with their recent reunion. This time, the duo reunites for a heartwarming Walmart Christmas commercial full of sweet references to the iconic 1997 film.

The short commercial opens with Dionne Farris’ “Hopeless” as Nina (Long) opens an early Christmas present from her husband Darius (Tate) – a Victrola record player.

The moment feels straight out of the movie as Darius responds, “You know I don’t like waiting,” referencing the unforgettable scene in which he says, “This right here, right now, in this moment, is everything, what matters to me.” .”

And of course Tate delivers the classic line: “Do you mind if I play something for you?” as the Isley Brothers fill the room. Fans will immediately recognize this as a reference to the CD that Darius gives Nina in the film.

In the commercial, her daughter, who follows her mother, takes a photo of Nina and Darius dancing to the slow jam.

Unfortunately for fans of the cult film, Tate dampened hopes of a sequel in October 2023, which is telling AL.com“It would be hard for us to catch lightning in a bottle twice.” However, he and Long have discussed what “Love Jones 2” might look like.
