Laurel woman charged with murder expected to stand trial in Madison County | News

A Cedar County woman’s trial is expected to take place in Madison County next summer.

During a hearing in Cedar County District Court on Monday, attorneys discussed a trial date for Carrie Jones, who faces charges of first-degree murder, accessory to murder and tampering with evidence in connection with the Aug. 4 deaths of four Laurel residents. 2022. The trial is tentatively scheduled for next summer in Madison County.

In September, a Dakota County jury found Jones’ husband, Jason Jones, guilty of four counts of first-degree murder and use of a firearm to commit a felony, and two counts of second-degree arson in the death of Jones Gene Twiford, his wife Janet Twiford, their daughter Dana Twiford and Michele Ebeling.

Jason Jones shot the Twifords before setting their house on fire, then murdered Ebeling and also set their house on fire.

Carrie Jones is charged in connection with the murder of Gene Twiford. Prosecutors allege she pressured her husband to kill Twiford in retaliation for sexually motivated comments Twiford made to her over several years.
