LeBron James watches Ohio State-Tennessee during Lakers postgame and makes fun of Dalton Knecht

No matter how much time he spends on the West Coast, LeBron James is still a kid from Akron, Ohio.

After the Los Angeles Lakers defeated the Sacramento Kings 103-99 in the California capital on Saturday night, James spoke to reporters during postseason play while watching on a laptop as Ohio State took on Tennessee in the first round of the College Football Playoff .

As ESPN’s Dave McMenamin asked a question, James focused on the screen as TreVeyon Henderson took a handoff and scored from 30 yards out to give the Buckeyes a 21-0 lead in the first quarter.

“Sorry, Dave, sorry, Dave!” James said as he clapped at the score.

James also took the opportunity to rip on Lakers rookie Dalton Knecht, who was drafted 17th overall out of Tennessee in this year’s NBA draft.

“Hey, DK! 21-0, don’t worry,” James said before turning his attention back to McMenamin and “go ahead.”

Although he didn’t attend college (James was drafted by the Cavaliers out of high school), the megastar has long been a Buckeyes ambassador. While it takes a bulletin board and some yarn to keep track of his professional fandom over the years, James’ love for Ohio State has remained constant.

With the Buckeyes now set to face Oregon in the Rose Bowl on New Year’s Day, there’s a good chance we’ll see James in attendance in Pasadena. The Lakers will not play on New Year’s Day and will play between home games on New Year’s Eve and January 2nd.
