Leon County man charged with murder of son’s motherMichael Dean Davis, Jr. (left), 27, was arrested November 12 in Laredo and charged with murder in connection with the discovery of human remains found on October 22, 2024 at a property in Buffalo, Texas.

This occurred following a comprehensive and thorough investigation by the Leon County Sheriff’s Office after they were notified of a missing person and child who had not been seen or heard from by family members since July 2022.

According to a Facebook press release from the Leon County Sheriff’s Department, on Oct. 22, detectives executed a search warrant at the Buffalo address where the human remains were discovered.

The remains were forensically examined by the Center for Human Identification at the University of North Texas and positively identified as those of 27-year-old Mahogany Washington, the mother of Davis’ 8-year-old son.

Many agencies cooperated in this investigation and searched for Davis, who was suspected of involvement. Davis was successfully arrested in Laredo, charged with murder and taken to the Webb County Jail where he is being held on $3,000,000 bail.

A tip led to Davis being arrested at a residence in south Laredo, where the boy was found unharmed. He was sent to Child Protective Services.

The police also found several rifles, gas masks and armor on site.

According to sources, Davis received additional charges of endangering a child due to the poor condition of the home.
