License plate reader leads to arrest of murder suspect in Lake Saint Louis

LAKE SAINT LOUIS, Mo. (First Alert 4) – A murder suspect was arrested in Lake Saint Louis after being hit by a license plate reader.

On Sunday, police received a notification from the license plate reader alerting the dispatch of an out-of-state murder suspect who had entered Lake Saint Louis city limits. Officers spotted the car in the area of North Henke Road and attempted to stop it, but the car continued driving, reaching speeds in excess of 120 mph, police said. The car hit a curb, damaging a tire, causing it to slow down and eventually come to a stop.

The driver, 47-year-old Frederic Green of Pooler, Georgia, was taken into custody. WTOC reports that Green was wanted in connection with the shooting of 49-year-old Antwan Small over the weekend.

“I am proud of our dispatchers and police officers for their hard work in apprehending this suspect. The use of technology like license plate readers and good laws like Valentine’s Law are the tools and resources we need in law enforcement to keep our communities safe,” said Chief Chris DiGiuseppi.

The St. Charles County District Attorney’s Office issued an arrest warrant for Green for Aggravated Escape/Valentine’s Law. Bond was set at $100,000.
