Kelly Belknap and Matilda Sandstroem are co-owners of Adventurous Backpack Company. They are a fast-growing brand in Denver, Colorado that designs minimalist backpacks for travel and outdoors with a social cause.

“We founded the Adventurous Backpack Company back in 2017. For every backpack sold, we provide 25 meals to families in need across the U.S. in partnership with Feeding America,” said Belknap.

“All year long, we provide families in need with 25 meals for every bag sold. This Black Friday weekend we will be personally matching all meals provided through sales on our website. So for every bag sold, 50 meals will be distributed to families in need over the weekend through our partnership with Feeding America,” said Sandstroem.

Every backpack purchase through Adventurous Backpack Company’s website from Black Friday through Cyber Monday (November 29-December 2) will have 50 meals donated to Feeding America.

Breckinridge Brewery in Littleton, Colorado is also using holiday sales to give back. Their Christmas Beer is a seasonal favorite that you can purchase at their farmhouse if you want to give back.

Over the past four years, Breckinridge Brewery has donated more than a thousand meals to the Food Bank of the Rockies through sales of its holiday beer.

Joanna Wise, press relations manager for the Food Bank of the Rockies, says this holiday season is the busiest time of year for the Food Bank.

“This time of year we tend to see an increase in the amount of food we distribute. We are also noticing that lines at our mobile pantries are getting longer,” Wise said.

“When we see companies and organizations giving back targeted monetary donations, they allow us to use our purchasing power to provide even more meals than you or I could if we went to the supermarket and bought that food ourselves.” In fact, with every dollar donated, we can help provide hungry neighbors with enough food for three meals,” said Wise.
