Logan County officers make arrest in Thanksgiving murder

THIS CASE TONIGHT. Well folks, authorities at the scene originally thought the victim died of natural causes. However, the medical examiner later diagnosed a gunshot wound. The Logan County Sheriff’s Office had no comment today but provided details about a suspicious death on Thanksgiving afternoon. They tell us deputies responded to a mobile home lot on Country Oaks Road in Edmond for an unattended death. The on-site investigation revealed that there was no suspicion of wrongdoing at this time. However, fast forward to Monday of this week, the victim identified as MICHAEL SMITH. The coroner’s office contacted the sheriff’s office and told them that during an autopsy they found a gunshot wound on Smith’s body. Sheriff’s deputies immediately began investigating and determined from witnesses that three people came to the property where a confrontation with Michael Smith occurred. Those witnesses described hearing a gunshot and two vehicles fleeing the area. The office says they identified three people Tuesday and arrested one on first-degree murder charges. We will not name this suspect until he is formally charged
