Long Branch’s Kushner is expected to be named ambassador to France

LONG BRANCH – President-elect Donald Trump announced yesterday through a post on his social media platform Truth Social that he intends to nominate Charles Kushner, 70, a real estate developer and father of Trump’s son-in-law Jared Kushner, as ambassador to France. Jared Kushner is married to Trump’s daughter Ivanka.

Charles Kushner and his wife Seryl own a mansion overlooking the ocean in Long Branch.

“He is a great business leader, philanthropist and dealmaker who will be a strong advocate representing our country and its interests,” Trump wrote in the post. “Congratulations to Charlie, his wonderful wife Seryl, their four children and 14 grandchildren.”

The president-elect also mentioned his daughter’s husband in the post and his work with the Trump administration during his first term in the White House as the 45th president from 2017 to 2021.

“(Charles’) son Jared worked closely with me in the White House, particularly on Operation Warp Speed, criminal justice reform and the Abraham Accords,” Trump wrote in his post.

Charles Kushner founded Kushner Companies in 1985 and began managing his father’s 4,000-home portfolio in New Jersey that year. By 1999, Kushner Companies had grown to more than 10,000 residential units, a home building company, and commercial and industrial properties.

In 2005, he was convicted of illegal campaign contributions, tax evasion and witness tampering. He was ultimately sentenced to two years in prison, which he served at the Montgomery Federal Penitentiary Camp.

As a convicted felon, Charles Kushner was also disbarred and barred from practicing law in New Jersey, New York, and Pennsylvania. He was pardoned by Trump in 2020, shortly after Trump lost his first re-election bid.

Trump won his second re-election last month and will become the 47th President of the United States when his second term begins on Monday, January 20, 2025.
