Louisiana governor condemned for deaf post hours after terror attack

A hard day yesterday. Difficult start to the new year. That cannot be denied. No hiding from it. No running away from it.

What happened in New Orleans was disgusting. The videos come from a third world country, not America. It’s annoying. Everyone should be angry today. This crap shouldn’t be happening in the US. But it happened, and it was terrible.

Now that all that’s out of the way, let’s turn to Louisiana Governor Jeff Landry, who sent out quite possibly the most tone-deaf tweet in history last night while his state was still reeling from a literal terrorist attack just hours earlier.

Fasten your seat belt:

The people of New Orleans saw through this

Whoaaaaaaa Nellie! What a post. Incredible.

Well, a few things here…

1. I understand. I understand what the governor was trying to do here. It’s kind of like what my great governor down here in Florida would do after a hurricane. You still need to support an economy and people need to eat. You also need to send a message of strength. I understand everything.

2. Other than that, it wasn’t some kind of natural disaster. This was a terrorist attack in your state, right down the street from where you’re eating dinner and taking photos. Hours ago there were corpses on the street. Every single law enforcement agency in the country is in town right now.

Again, I understand what the governor was trying to convey here, but… Whoof. I just thought that as soon as he – or one of his social media interns – read the comments (which we’ll get to here), they would have immediately deleted this post.

But no. Here we are, hours later, and it’s still running and…thriving.

So, thrives is perhaps not the right word here. Let’s go to the comments section to see if we can choose a better one:

Unvoiced. That’s it! Let’s continue with “deaf.”

Again, I get it. Life needs to get back to normal in these situations…somewhat…. The American people must see what happens next because this country is built on resilience and will never bow to terrorists.

But maybe publish a post like this tonight? Wait 24 hours and then maybe go out to eat downtown?

Well, yes. What’s done is done.

Prime rib for everyone!
