Louisiana mother arrested after child spotted in locked car

A mother in Louisiana was arrested Monday morning after police were dispatched to a vehicle containing a child who was trying to escape.

Kenner police released a photo Monday morning of officers with the child they rescued from the vehicle. The child’s mother, Azreil Rahman, was arrested for child abduction.

Rahman was reportedly shopping at a retail store on Williams Boulevard when passersby noticed the one-year-old child locked in the car.

The car’s sunroof was open and those who called 911 to report the child in the car relayed the message that the child was attempting to escape the vehicle via the open sunroof.

The child was later handed over to family members and the mother was taken to prison.

Here is the message from the Kenner Police Department posted on social media:

“Thank you to everyone who called 911 and was concerned about the well-being of this baby. If it had exited the car through the sunroof, a fall from that height could be fatal. “There are no words to express the shock and anger of this, so we’ll leave it at that,” Chief Conley said. I can’t emphasize this enough.

Here are the officers with the child after he was safely removed from the car. This photo was shared online by Kenner Police.
