Lowland snow, snow and icy rain on the tap for parts of Western Washington

We did not lead with a white Christmas this season, but instead the snow appeared in time for a few other winter holidays.

At Groundhog’s Day we started the latest round of the cold air and in February -snow, and it looks like we will complete it on Friday for Valentine’s Day.

Of course, the two main components are cold air and precipitation for lowland snow. To keep the two at the same time is the difficult part of the equation! Excessive Canadian air masses usually forced clouds and moisture that get out of the way when they rush across the border to ensure days at the end of the bitter but bright weather.

That has certainly been the case lately!

We have just gone through the coldest route of our winter, but there was no cloud in the sky. However, this has changed over the next 48 hours.

The lowland snow in West -Washington occurs most often when the modified arctic air occurs on the way, and again when modified arctic air is on the way outside. This is because there is usually a precipitation with which you can work on both sides. At the Groundhog’s Day Weekend, the cold air pressed, and thanks to a weak disturbance that interacted with this cold air, we had a nice round of lowland snow.

This week we will deal with the other way around – the cold air is now firmly anchored, and the wet weather finally steers back to the region. When the two come together on Thursday afternoon to Friday morning, we will see another round of lowland snow in the northwest Pacific before the cold air is pushed out again.

On Thursday morning, snow sprinkled in the south, with Morton and Vancouver seeing enough to get involved in the streets. Pierce County, Olympia and the common basis of Lewis-McCchord also recorded a snow structure.

However, areas north of Everett are probably not much snowfall. Seattle was cold and gray, but dry like on Thursday morning. However, this changed on Thursday evening when a winter mixture fell into the Emerald City against the Emerald City around 5 p.m.

On Thursday morning, a winter combination of snow, snow and ice-cold rain reached the I-5 corridor from Portland to Olympia.

Most of the rainfall from the storm will control further south of us and concentrate on Oregon and California. The Willamette Valley was supposed to tie up several centimeters of snow, and Portland and the municipalities east into the Columbia River Gorge will probably fight with periods of their notorious and treacherous, icy rain.

However, some models bring the snow even further north, with flakes in the area from Seattle until Thursday evening to Friday morning.

The key to how much precipitation falls and accumulates as a lowland snow depends on how long it takes to search the cold air near the surface. So far, the forecast solutions are forecast that a trace of four inches in the south and southwestern interior could increase before changing from frozen to liquid precipitation on Friday.

The more preferred places for several customs coatings from lowland snow are located in the Willapa Hills, in the Capitol Forest and in the Foothill communities along Highway 12 like Morton and Mossyrock. There is a winter weather resistant for this region, together with Hood Canal and the East Puget Sound lowlands in the foothills of the cascades. Cold air is usually caught and linger near the canal, so that this is often a preferred place for the continued snow.

The Cascade Foothill Communities are high enough that snow usually also accumulates there, but we will fight in Issaquah, Enumclaw and Monroe from 30 to 45 against East Cascadia -Wind. Cascadias are often “snow eaters”, so that they could serve to successfully accumulate the snow this time in the counties East Snohomish, King and Pierce.

Conclusion: While northwest saw both shadows and snowflakes a few weeks ago, local Amors could make snow heart this year.

However, we will finally thaw again this weekend and come back to an equally old lowland rain shower in which the presidential day will take part.
