Luma Island Hive

The first step to bringing Honey in Luma Island Is Build a beehive and place it on your farm. The blueprint for a beehive can be purchased from the drawing shop in town for 2,500 gold coins and you will need the following materials to build it:

  • 10 Mountain Juice
  • 10 mountain boards
  • 10 mountain flowers
  • 1 queen bee

As you can see, you need to reach the mountain and get most of the materials for a beehive from this biome before you can start making honey. Mountain Sap can be found by cutting down trees and sap branches in the biome, while the flowers can be found on the ground scattered across the area. They are white. So when you reach the snow-covered areas of the mountain, be aware that they may be difficult to see. Planks can be made from mountain wood in the sawmill.

However, the queen bee is an interesting requirement that you can’t necessarily look for. They appear randomly on the farm and in the forest and you have to catch them with your net. It’s similar to the way creatures appear in rivers and oceans, except they’re likely to meander through the land and between the trees. So as you explore, be sure to look out for them and catch them if you can.

Once you’ve built your hive, you can place it on your farm near crops that need hives and the bees in it will start producing honey. About once a day, you may check your hive and notice that honey is being dropped nearby.

If you have chosen to become a brewer or chef, you know that bees are necessary if you want to grow and successfully grow certain crops, such as pumpkins and cocoa beans. Similar to sprinklers, when you place your hive you will see a large blue square around it. This square indicates which plants your bees will pollinate. So make sure your pumpkin and cacao seeds fall into this square so the bees can get to work.

If you have not chosen the Brewer or Cook profession, you will need to unlock these crops through these professions. The recipes that require plants grown through bee pollination don’t unlock until the third phase of the quest line, but if you’re already advanced enough in another profession, it shouldn’t take too long to get to the point reach where you are buying pumpkin and cocoa seeds in Luma Island.
