Magic gets 20 points from Franz Wagner and beats the Nets for the second time in 3 days

NEW YORK — Franz Wagner had 20 points, nine rebounds, eight assists and two blocks, and the Orlando Magic picked up their sixth straight win and second in three days over the Nets with a 100-92 win over Brooklyn on Sunday.

Goga Bitadze added 12 points and 13 rebounds, Kentavious Caldwell-Pope had 16 points and Wendell Carter Jr. had 14 points and seven rebounds, helping Orlando to its 12th win in the last 13 games despite committing a team-high 22 turnovers Season average achieved.

Cam Johnson led Brooklyn with 26 points, and Dennis Schroder added 20 points and seven assists.

After an even first half that featured 14 lead changes and 11 ties, Orlando did its best to take control in the third quarter, outscoring Brooklyn 25-19. Despite losing second-leading scorer Jalen Suggs, who picked up his fifth foul at 10:41, the Magic went on a 17-6 run to extend their largest lead at 69-59.

But Brooklyn didn’t let up. The Nets opened the fourth quarter with a 7-0 run, with Schroder scoring five points, including a three-point play that gave them a 76-75 lead with 10:45 left.

Orlando: The Magic used their size advantage with Wagner and Bitadze to outscore Brooklyn 54-38 in the game and grab a 52-33 edge in rebounding.

Brooklyn: The Nets lost to the Magic for the second straight season and went 11-3 in the Eastern Conference this season.

KEY MOMENT

The Magic heated up Brooklyn defensively in the fourth quarter, forcing six turnovers in the fourth quarter, and outscored Brooklyn 17-9 with 7:01 to play in the final.

KEY STATUS

The Magic, the league’s best defense, also held the league’s second-ranked 3-point shooting team to just 8 for 31 (25.8%) on Sunday.
