Major automaker recalls more than 205,000 SUVs in the US

A major automaker has announced that it is recalling more than 205,000 SUVs in the United States. The organization says the vehicles are experiencing issues with fuel leaks.

According to the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration, Honda has issued a recall of its Passport and Pilot SUVs because of a potential problem that could lead to a fuel leak. The recalled vehicles are from the years 2023 to 20025.

According to the organization, there is a risk of the filler tube and pipe separating. This could cause fuel to leak. This is a potentially dangerous problem because the risk of fire is increased when an ignition source is nearby.

The automaker says dealers will investigate and fix the problem free of charge. However, it is just the latest issue affecting the automaker. In October, Honda recalled more than 720,000 vehicles, again because of a fuel problem. Honda was concerned that the vehicle’s high-pressure fuel pump might break and cause a fuel leak.

A car manufacturer recalls

The recall affected the 2023-2024 Accord and Accord Hybrid, 2025 Civic and Civic Hybrid, and 2023-2025 CR-V Hybrid models. I wish I could say that this was the only problem plaguing the automaker, but unfortunately these two recalls were just the tip of the iceberg.

The National Highway Traffic Safety Administration launched a survey of 120,000 Honda Ridgelines last June because of backup camera problems. This recall affected Ridgelines from 2017 to 2019. Previously, in April, reports surfaced that Honda drivers were having problems with an automatic braking system unexpectedly activating. More than 2,000 people complained and 47 accidents were reported.

But enough criticism of Honda. They are not the only car manufacturer that finds itself in a difficult position. Nissan could file for bankruptcy in the next 12 months after it took on huge debts and struggled to remain competitive in today’s market.

CEO Makoto Uchida even took a 50% pay cut to reduce debt.

He said: “It’s a lesson we learned and we couldn’t keep up with the times. We couldn’t have predicted that hybrid electric vehicles and plug-in hybrids would be so popular.”
