“Make History: The Revival of Bruce Pearl and Auburn Basketball” is streaming on WarEagle+ – Auburn Tigers

AUBURN, Ala. Bruce Pearl got off the plane and walked toward the Auburn fans who greeted him at the airport on March 18, 2014.

“Whatever we do,” Pearl told the crowd, “let’s do it together.”

Over the next decade, Pearl led the Tigers to four Southeastern Conference championships and a trip to the Final Four, a remarkable turnaround chronicled in the War Eagle+ documentary “Make History: The Revival of Bruce Pearl and Auburn Basketball.”

After Monday night’s practice, Pearl joined Auburn University students, Tigers Unlimited donors and Auburn Athletics staff at Langdon Hall for the premiere of the documentary, which airs Tuesday at 5 p.m. CT on War Eagle+, the official content network of the Auburn Tigers, is streaming.

“Two days before my team goes to Cameron Indoor Stadium and has the chance to play one of the best teams in the country in the toughest environment in the country, that’s my focus,” said Pearl, standing on an orange carpet leading to the Thought the event had a Hollywood feel.

“Please understand how incredibly grateful I am that something like this was put together. For most of my life I was a nobody from nothing. I am grateful to be at Auburn and to be able to achieve my dreams of coaching at the highest level with the greatest support and fan base, as well as a great university that is loved by my family.”

Beginning with his childhood in Boston, Make History documents Pearl’s journey to the Plains, his faith, his philanthropy and the outreach that led to the creation of one of college basketball’s most celebrated student divisions – The Jungle.

Through interviews with current and former players, coaches, family members, fans and media, Make History, led by Associate AD for Creative Storytelling Chris Sabo, tells the story of Auburn’s rise from follower to powerhouse.

“You saw that, you know Auburn loves him, you know we had great success in basketball. Why? How?” said Sabo, an Emmy Award-winning documentary filmmaker. “These are the questions that are difficult to answer, but also the questions that make a documentary about a subject like this worthy.”
