Man, 25, charged with second-degree murder in death of mother: Durham police

A 64-year-old woman is dead after she was attacked by her son early Sunday morning in Pickering, Durham police said.

The 25-year-old now faces a charge of second-degree murder, according to a news release from Durham Regional Police.

The woman was found with life-threatening injuries when police responded to a report of a possible collision in the area of ​​Foxwood Trail and Weyburn Square around 5:10 a.m., the release said.

She was taken to a Toronto-area trauma center where she was pronounced dead.

Officers later determined the woman’s injuries were caused by an assault and not the collision, police said.

The police arrested the woman’s son at the scene.

There were still several police cars in the area on Sunday evening. The police had taped off a vehicle that had apparently crashed into a tree.
