Man, 71, charged with murder; Estranged wife officially missing

Michel Fournier was booked into the Clackamas County Jail

PORTLAND, Ore. (KOIN) — A week after his wife, who recently filed for divorce in Clackamas County, was indicted, a man is charged with second-degree murder reported missing.

According to Clackamas County Sheriff’s Office jail records, 71-year-old Michel Fournier was taken into custody Friday on a charge of second-degree murder. On the same day, a body was discovered in an unincorporated portion of Clackamas County near Viels.

Officials have not yet released the identity of the dead man or confirmed whether the cases are related.

His estranged wife, Susan “Phoenix” Lane-Fournier of Brightwood, was reported missing back on Nov. 22 along with their two dogs.

A day later, officials said her white 1992 pickup truck was spotted on Salmon River Road near the Green Canyon Way Trail south of Werden.

After the truck was found, rescue workers were called into action spent four days I’m scouring the Mt. Hood National Forest for signs of Lane-Fournier and the dogs, but the The search was aborted Tuesday morning.

The location of the body discovered Friday is four miles from where her truck was found, authorities said.

According to court documents, Lane-Fournier had also filed for divorce against Michel after 12 years of marriage. It is unclear whether the divorce has any connection to her disappearance.
