Man accused of pointing a large gun at a car on I-24

NASHVILLE, Tenn. (WSMV) – A man was arrested after he allegedly pointed a gun at another car on Interstate 24, according to an arrest report.

On Saturday, November 30, at 11:30 p.m., officers were flagged down by a driver who claimed the vehicle directly behind him pointed a gun at him while they were on the highway between Old Hickory Boulevard and Briley Parkway .

According to police, the victim said the driver pulled into the passenger side of the car and pointed what looked like a slimy gun.

He said the man, identified as Ryan Bowden, followed them off the highway and onto Broadway.

Police stopped Bowden’s car after he reportedly made an illegal U-turn and asked the suspect and his passenger to exit the vehicle. Police found a large brown gun magazine in the center console and arrested both Bowden and his passenger.

When officers interviewed Bowden, police found a black AR-15 behind the driver’s seat.

Bowden claimed the AR-15 was not his but was the passenger’s weapon. He also allowed police to search his car.

Police learned that Bowden did not have a driver’s license.

Bowden was arrested on two counts of aggravated assault, two counts of driving without a license and two counts of possession of a firearm despite previously being convicted of a felony.

He was held on $122,000 bail.

Bowden was previously convicted of drug offenses in 2018.
