Man dies after crash in northern Idaho

The following is a news release from the Idaho State Police.

Idaho State Police are investigating a fatal accident that occurred at 9:39 a.m. Wednesday on US12 milepost 39 near Orofino.

A 2004 Dodge Dakota pickup was traveling westbound on US12 near mile 39 when it crossed the eastbound lane and entered a ditch, resulting in a rollover accident.

In the vehicle were a 67-year-old man and a 67-year-old woman, both from Orofino. Both were wearing seatbelts at the time of the accident. The occupants suffered injuries and were transported to a local hospital by ambulance. The male occupant was pronounced dead at the hospital.

The highway was partially closed for about 30 minutes while first responders examined the scene. Next of kin have been notified.

The Clearwater County Sheriff’s Office, Clearwater County Emergency Medical Services and the Idaho Department of Transportation assisted with the incident. This crash is still under investigation.
