Man shot at car meet in North Las Vegas, suspect at large

According to the North Las Vegas Police Department, a 22-year-old man was hospitalized after he was shot during a car meet early Sunday morning.

Officers responded to the scene of an accident at the intersection of Lone Mountain Road and Vandeberg Drive around 12:15 p.m., where they found the victim suffering from a gunshot wound to the chest.

Police said officers administered first medical aid until emergency medical personnel arrived and transported the man to UMC Trauma.

His condition is currently stable.

According to investigators, the victim was among several participants in the car meeting when an unknown suspect opened fire. The suspect fled the scene before officers arrived.

Investigators are investigating the incident and are aware of videos circulating on social media.

Cell phone video shared with News 3 documented the chaos, with nearly 20 shots fired as people ran away.

The violence shocked some in the neighborhood Monday.

A company sharing surveillance footage with News 3 shows the gathering and the shooting.

Juan Luis-Ramirez tells me he lives in Las Vegas, near the border of North Las Vegas.

He once approached drivers eating donuts in front of his house.

“Right there on my street. They did it and I was angry because I didn’t want any noise,” he says.
