Man shot in southeast OKC, suspect charged with murder

OKLAHOMA CITY — A confrontation in southeast OKC resulted in a man being shot in the front yard of a home Friday.

The death marks the 74th homicide of 2024 for the city of Oklahoma City.

Oklahoma City Police Department patrol officers were dispatched in the dark in the early hours of Friday morning to a home in the 3800 block of Hiddleston Circle, near SE 44th and Sunnylane.

Arriving officers found 24-year-old Timothy Emmanuel Brown, who had been shot multiple times. Brown was taken to an area hospital where he was pronounced dead.

In their initial investigation, police believe Brown entered the home and was confronted by residents outside as he approached.

One of those individuals, 21-year-old Ladarius James Crutchfield, “…fired shots at Brown during the altercation. Brown was struck by the gunfire,” OKCPD Sgt. Dillon Quirk said in the news release.

Crutchfield was booked into the Oklahoma County Detention Center on a second-degree murder charge.

Quirk told Free Press in a phone call that the case has been presented to the district attorney, who is considering filing a first-degree murder charge instead.

OKCPD asks anyone with information to call the Homicide Tip Line at 405/297-1200.

The case will be presented to the district attorney’s office, which will ultimately decide whether to file charges.
