Mann was found guilty of second-degree murder in the dispute

SHREVEPORT, La. (KSLA) – A man and woman of six deliberated for three hours and found Archille Parrel Holmes Jr. guilty of second-degree murder.

On Dec. 4, Archille Parrel Holmes Jr., 29, was found guilty of the 2022 second-degree murder of Tomel T. Henry.

The incident occurred on February 16, 2022 in the 5200 block of Mansfield Road. Henry, 30, confronted the mother of his child, who lived at the Mansfield Road residence. The argument between the two former partners escalated and they began pushing each other. Holmes, who was not involved in the argument, produced a gun, shot Henry in the head, and then fled the scene with the gun. Henry evaded arrest for two months before being arrested by the Shreveport Police Department (SPD).

The trial called 12 witnesses to testify that the deadly force used by Holmes was excessive and unnecessary. Holmes declined to speak to investigators after his arrest and did not testify at his trial. His lawyers argued that another man fired the fatal shot and also fled the scene. The jury rejected this argument.

Holmes will be sentenced on December 19, 2024. He faces a sentence of life in prison without parole, parole or suspension of sentence.
