Manny Jacinto Can’t Believe He’s Part of the ‘Lohan-aissance’ in ‘Freakier Friday’ (Exclusive)

Manny Jacinto broke our hearts as Qimir in Disney’s The Acolyte (RIP, it’s still early) earlier this year, but if there’s one thing we can be thankful for after the ridiculous cancellation, it might be Jacinto’s rise to stardom. Next up for Jacinto is the role opposite one of his childhood idols: Lindsay Lohan, as part of Freakier Fridayand it’s fair to say he can’t wait. In conversation with Collider’s Maggie Lovitt during a panel discussion at FanExpo San Francisco, where the two discussed his time The acolyte, The good place, And, of all things civil engineering, Jacinto spoke of his excitement about taking part in the highly anticipated sequel:

“I mean, I never thought I would be part of the Lohanaissance. She’s going through a whole revolution, but I remember seeing Lindsay as a child,

The parent trap, mean girls

and being able to act towards her was unreal. And also,
Jamie Lee Curtis.
Give it up for Jamie because, like her acting, she is an incredible human being, they both are. It will be a good piece, it will take us back to the Disney nostalgia of the 90s.

What else can we expect from “Freakier Friday”?

Alongside Jacinto, Lohan and Curtis, we know this Chad Michael Murray will reprise his role as Jake, Anna’s lover from the 2003 original Crazy Friday. Disney has already teased fans with a photo of it A tree hill Star Murray in the role, this time accompanied by a sleek new bike that has the rumor mill abuzz with speculation. Curtis hinted at the significance of Murray’s return, saying: “Chad is there. And boy, oh boy, is Chad there.”

While much of the plot remains a mystery, the official synopsis reveals that Anna, now a mother, is preparing to marry Jacinto’s character, Eric Davis, a British restaurateur. The new chapter will bring us new relationships and dynamics, especially with Anna’s daughter Harper, who is less than thrilled about her mother’s upcoming wedding, and it’s probably fair to say that die-hard fans are expecting the same mix of humor and heartfelt moments can how made the original a classic.

The 2003 Crazy Friday film, direction Mark Watersexceeded all box office expectations when it was released 21 years ago, grossing over $160 million worldwide on a truly minuscule budget. Since then, the film has become a beloved classic on the Disney Channel and in family homes around the world. Freakier Friday is scheduled to hit theaters on August 8, 2025. Stay tuned to Collider to learn more.
