Marsovca exceeds the expectations: gastronomic ritual that is devoted to the pipe sheep prepared for Jadra Beach

April 15, 2025 – Marsovca on the Lunar Island of Pag exceeded all expectations, and the masses resembled those who were seen during the highlight of the summer and not in mid -April.

At dusk under the light of the rising moon at the robust Jadra Beach from PAG, which can hardly be referred to as a mere event.

This gastronomic ritual, Marsovca, was devoted to the PAG sheep, the educator and symbol of the island of PAG. When the waves of the crystal -clear Adriatic, which gently heralded against the moonlit landscape, resembled the surface of Mars, the aroma of lamb and cottage cheese filled the air and collected more visitors than everyone.

The parking lot in front of the beach was filled directly to the last place, as if it were the highlight of today’s summer season and not just a Saturday in April.

It goes without saying that Marsovca has exceeded all expectations. Last year as a tribute to the most famous local animal, the PAG Sheep, accepted this year in a new dimension. In this new dimension, she not only accepted another culinary event, but as a cultural and gastronomic manifesto of local identity.

With the support of the Novalja Tourist Board and the enthusiasm of those within the local catering and hospitality scene, this magical evening laid a solid basis for a confusing spring event in the island calendar of the events.

On open fireplaces and traditional dry stone walls, Novalja’s most famous chefs prepared dishes that delighted even the most select palate. The beginning of Marsovca attracted those who were present with culinary delicacies: lamb pies, rillettes and spicy starters who mingled with the unusual ambience. The main dishes were an ode to the legendary lamb of the island – from the lamb on the spit or under a “Peka” oven to breaded brains in the lamb fat, to skewers, sausages and braised meat with greens. All of this was rounded off with Corptlica and more.

It was the desserts that were a real surprise-a synergy of cottage cheese, other cheese, almonds, dried fruits and honey made with pag. Most attention was drawn to the flaming track desserts, and the plates that were wearing these delicacies showed the aroma of the island of Pag and spoke of its sweet, softer side.

“We not only celebrate sheep, we also celebrate a whole way of life,” said a cook who proudly roasted the best young PAG lambs on an open fire. The fiery preparation of the food was no coincidence – the flame symbolized the island before tourism – a life in the stone, seasoned with sweat and salt.

Marsovca will not only stop at this remarkable dinner. The event will continue in the local restaurants of Novalja next month, where local dishes from lamb and PAG milk products are offered. This ranges from barge to grilled lamb with all types of traditional side dishes. The served food will be the guy that does not strap under the weight of trends or adheres to trends, but increases above them – because it is authentic.

Marsovca is much more than an event – it tells us a story about the importance of returning to itself, about the island of PAG, its locals, animals and plants. Through Marsovca, the island of PAG spoke the most honest language it knows – the one who eaten, smelled, smelled and reminded.

If the premiere last year, this was the beginning of a tradition.
