Max Verstappen affirms Red Bull worries when the problems deteriorate

Max Verstappen has repeated that Red Bull is still “too slow”, a complaint that he first inserted after the sprint qualifying.

The Dutch repeated his complaint about the RB21 after he had qualified for the Chinese Grand Prix in fourth place after taking third place in the sprint race before the session.

While Red Bull is clearly the pace of some of his competitors, Verstappen feels comfortable in the car and does his best to manage the problems.

“I feel good,” said Verstappen to the media, including Racingnews365. “Of course I’ve been driving this car for a few years and there are always moments when things are going better.

“But I think I know the car pretty well. So you try to avoid the problems a little as you can.”

Data from the Shanghai International Circuit have shown that Red Bull’s top speed is the largest on the net, but that they bleed behind its competitors in any other area.

The four -time world champion announced that the balance of the car in every corner changes for every run and that the team’s alarms rang on Milton Keynes.

“We are just too slow and they saw it during qualifying,” added Verstappen. “In every corner, the balance differs only slightly from the run before. I can’t really stick to anything either.”

However, the greatest concern for the 27-year-old is that he believes that Red Bull rivals have a greater advantage over them than in the final phases of last season.

If the current gap had been present last year, Verstappen insisted that he would never have received a fourth driver title.

“I think the gap is greater than last year,” he emphasized. “In the first races (last year) I already had a reasonable gap.

“But even if things are now, we wouldn’t have won it last year. I think the gap is bigger than then.”
