Q: Tell us about your organization.

A: Hello, I’m Sandy Naramore. I am the Executive Director of Magic Moments, the only organization in the state of Alabama that exclusively grants wishes to children.

This season we are promoting our Christmas cards designed by our recipients. When you open the card, your recipient will see that you made a donation in their honor. Please go to www.magicmoments.org and order your tickets today. It will be the best gift you can send.

Q: What role do you play in the organization and how did you get involved?

A: I am the CEO of Magic Moments and have been here for eight years. My background was special education. I have taught in various systems for many years. I left Mountain Brook many years ago and joined the Hoover system as an assistant principal.

I was there for two years and then went to Mitchell’s Place, a center for children with autism and other developmental delays. I did that for nine years before I joined Magic Moments, which is just the love of my life.

Those were an incredible eight years. And in case you don’t know, we are the only organization that grants wishes exclusively for Alabama children with chronic life-threatening or acute life-altering illnesses.

Q: Who does your organization serve?

A: Magic Moments serves children ages four to 18 throughout the state of Alabama. These children were diagnosed with chronic life-threatening illnesses or an acute life-changing situation. We have served children in all 67 counties and are 40 years old.

We are very proud to have served over 5,000 children from top to bottom across the state of Alabama.

Q: Tell us why your mission is important.

A: Our mission to bring magic and happiness to children with life-threatening or life-changing illnesses is critical to these children’s progress. You will be amazed at the progress and improvement when a child has experienced a magical moment. They show.

Doctors and research prove that when a child finds themselves in such a situation, they need something positive and hope, and that is our mission.

Q: How can people get involved/help?

A: There are so many ways for people to get involved with Magic Moments. We offer opportunities for individuals, for companies, for families and for schools.

If you go to our website www.magicmoments.org and click on “Join”, you will have various options for registering.

We have something called a “Magic Maker,” and that is the person or group that surprises a child with their magical moment. It’s fabulous and you would love it.
