Megan Fox’s upcoming sci-fi thriller Subservience is now streaming on Netflix

While Submissiveness It’s unlikely to win over too many sci-fi fans, but the film could at least be an entertaining watch of the “so bad it’s good” variety. And “so bad” was exactly what critics thought of the film upon release Submissiveness Thanks to its 48% rating, it now sits next to a dreaded green stain on Rotten Tomatoes. Audiences were a little friendlier, with the film scoring a (still pretty poor) 56%.

And things don’t get much better anywhere else Submissiveness sits at just 5.3/10 on IMDb and 5.6 on Metacritic. Screen Rant’s Ben Gibbons really enjoyed the performance of Megan Fox, who “gives her all in the role of Alice the AI,” but quickly tires of AI thrillers, saying, “Despite Megan Fox’s performance Submissiveness “doesn’t add anything new to a genre that is becoming increasingly saturated as AI advances.”

Leslie Felperin of The Guardian, meanwhile, said Subservience was far too predictable to achieve cult status… although it comes close; “If the film were just a little smarter and less predictable, it might have had a chance of becoming a cult classic.” And Flickering Myth’s Robert Kojder felt similarly, saying: “Submissiveness proves shackled by formula, devolving into mindless, forgetfully constructed slasher sequences that do a disservice to the already mostly terrible performances.”

But despite the critics’ criticism, there were some who accepted it Submissiveness. MovieWeb’s Will Sayre was intrigued by both Fox’s performance and their cast, saying, “Their cast is also particularly interesting in some ways Submissiveness becomes a meta-commentary on the male gaze and how we so easily turn subjects into objects through sexual objectification,” while Morbidly Beautiful’s Stephanie Malone praised Megan Fox in the lead role, “as a robot caregiver turned threat, this flawed but anchored in fascinating science.” Fi horror-thriller is an entertaining film that doesn’t break any new ground, but benefits greatly from Fox’s outstanding performance.” So, maybe Submissiveness Is it worth another look?
